The Cardiovascular Nursing Level II Board Certification Exam for Acute Care Cardiac Nurses
Cost of the CVRN-BC Level II Exam
Two Options Available:

Option 1
Nurses who are not Board Certified with the ABCM, but are Board Eligible; in other words, they have not taken the CVRN-BC Level I Exam, but qualify through education, employment, other certifications, and knowledge: $249.00

Option 2
Nurses who hold a current CVRN-BC Level I Board Certification with the ABCM are eligible to sit for the CVRN-BC Level II Board Certification Exam for $149.00. ACCN or ACCNP Members will also receive an additional 10% off this offer, making their fee only $134.00.

Pre-Requisites

Who Is Eligible to Take the Cardiovascular Nursing Level II Board Certification Exam?
This Exam is open only to Registered Nurses or Nurse Practitioners in any corner of the globe. If you are a licensed Registered Nurse, you are required to provide your nursing license number and the state your license was issued in, on your Application.

Are There Requirements to Take the Cardiovascular Nursing Level II Board Certification Exam?
Knowledge is the Key Requirement. We recommend that Cardiac Nurses working in Acute Care Areas apply themselves to the study of Cardiovascular Nursing practice and have at least 2 years of practice in an Acute Care Setting such as CCU/CVICU, Cath Labs, Interventional Cardiology settings, before attempting to take this Exam. CEs are not required to sit for the exam, however 30 CEs in Cardiology will be required for the recertification process every 3 years.

What Will You Be Tested on?
The CVRN-BC Level II Exam Matrix: We cannot tell with 100% accuracy which questions will be asked in the online exam, because they are random each time a person takes the exam. There are 175 questions rolled out during each exam session.

Hospitals may purchase bulk seats for the online exam and the examinees of your choice will receive coupon codes to log online and take their exam. There is no time limit for your candidates to take the Exam online after the bulk seats are purchased. If a nurse fails the exam, he or she may take it a second time for a small proctor fee of $50 paid directly to ABCM, who will then provide the examinee a second coupon to re-enter the exam.


Step 1: Application Process

Mandatory Exam Application – To apply, navigate to our Preliminary
Exam Application page and complete and submit your Application and wait for approval; you could be taking your exam within a week of your application.

After you submit your application, you will receive an email letting you know if you have been approved for the Level II CVRN Exam by our Exam Director. You will then be emailed instructions on how to access the Exam online. The application process may take from 1-5 business days depending upon daily volume and which day of the week you summit the Application).

Do I Have to Hold a Level I CVRN-BC to Be Eligible for the Level II CVRN-BC Exam?
No, you do not need a Level I CVRN-BC Certification to be eligible to take the CVRN II Exam. What we do recommend is at least 2 years employment in a Cardiovascular Critical Care Area.
